Abstract
Corporate ambassador duties are being assigned to a new generation of international executives whose mission will be to play an effective interface role between the head office and subsidiaries, as well as between the subsidiaries themselves, once they have thoroughly "absorbed" the firm's culture, such as the particularities of different markets. One promising area of study is the process by which these international executives continue to appropriate the spirit of the community to which they belong (primary socialization that reflects a subjective dimension of ethnicity), while at the same time identifying with professional roles by learning to play them in their own efficient way and beyond their cultural origins. This is most often referred to in terms of mechanical assimilation of the firm's values, or of a dual identity that is insurmountable for the employee. This article shows that the socialization of international executives is not defined through a single global culture that would make ethnic rootedness and national differences disappear.
