Abstract
La bibliothèque de l’école primaire et secondaire a un passé récent, à peine trente ans. Son implantation et son développement se sont réalisés au rythme de la croissance du système scolaire; tantôt de façon accélérée, tantôt au ralenti. Le rôle, la place et l’importance de la bibliothèque sont clairement exprimés dans plusieurs documents publiés au fil des années. Même si des efforts importants ont été consentis, la réalité se situe entre le discours et la pratique, entre les besoins identifiés et les ressources disponibles. Dans son ensemble, la situation demeure toujours fragile et, pour garantir l’avenir, il faut améliorer le présent.
