Abstract
Cet article analyse les relations entre certaines variables associées à l’élève et à l’école et la performance à l’écrit en français des élèves québécois finissants du secondaire de la région métropolitaine de Montréal, en ce qui a trait à deux des critères de correction : la syntaxe et la ponctuation ainsi que l’orthographe. À l’aide de la modélisation multiniveau multivariée, les résultats indiquent que la part de variance dans la performance des élèves attribuable à l’élève est de l’ordre de 75,0 %, tandis que celle attribuable à l’école est de l’ordre de 25,0 % pour l’ensemble des élèves. Nous observons un effet différentiel des facteurs d’élève et d’école selon le critère considéré, et une plus grande homogénéité entre les écoles qu’entre les élèves à l’intérieur d’une école.
