L’auteur s’interroge sur la pratique de la psychothérapie d’orientation analytique en institution et ses conditions de possibilité dans le contexte d’une transformation radicale du milieu de la santé mentale au Québec. Il met en lumière les écueils d’une telle pratique et les vecteurs qui freinent ou qui propulsent certaines formes de psychothérapie dans le champ de la santé mentale en institution. Deux formes de pensée et leurs répercussions sur le système de soins sont examinées : l’introduction des neurosciences et de la pensée gestionnaire sont au centre de ce débat. Enfin, l’auteur propose un modèle de soins qui tente de concilier une perspective psychanalytique et l’allocation des ressources disponibles dans un milieu institutionnel de soins en santé mentale jeunesse.
