Abstract
En 1902, les Capucins, originaires de Toulouse en France, fondent un couvent à Limoilou (Québec), ils y établissent leur noviciat et prennent en charge la paroisse Saint-Charles. Selon les règles de l’Ordre, ils se dotent d’une bibliothèque et y rassemblent, au cours du XXe siècle, une collection de 2 500 brochures qui témoignent de leur approche de la vie religieuse, sociale et politique du milieu québécois. La brochure est une publication modeste, souvent jugée sans valeur, mais la sélection que l’on en fait, les titres conservés au fil du temps dans une bibliothèque conventuelle comme celle des Capucins, révèlent des champs d’intérêt, rappellent des débats et des réalités sociales et prennent la valeur d’une source pour l’histoire.
