Organizations that define objectives, establish goals, measure progress, and display results can boost performance. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are values that measure not only whether an organization’s goals were achieved, but also the necessary activities taken leading toward those goals. This paper presents the framework and implementation practice of lagging and leading KPIs for traffic safety improvement. Implementation at the City of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Office of Traffic Safety is discussed.
