Abstract
The main objective of the study is to identify social representations about human rights violation of students of the University of the State of Bahia (UNEB) who belong to five different courses (biology, law, history, mathematics and pedagogy), located in towns in the semi arid regions of the state of Bahia. Theobjective is to help them recover their beliefs, ideas and human values (social representations) related to their individual freedoms, governmental actions as well as their own actions and obligations, fatalism and employer requirements from new employees and from the government towards the common citizen. We take in consideration studies already done in previous researches in reference to extensions and limits about the universality of human rights, After due adaptations to the reality of the Brazilian northeastern, social and consensual representations were defined in the majority of the students interviewed and in each group of students, as well as in representations as a result of the mix of ideas “practices a religion”
