The recovery of end-of-life products is today becoming an important issue for manufacturers of complex products. However, recovery aspects are not currently fully integrated at the products’design stage as tools and methods are still unsatisfactory. In this paper, a new method of recovery conscious design is presented and applied. Its use allows product designers to understand and control the complexity and variability of recovery routes and to make design choices. The method includes an original modelling of recovery routes, a multicriteria and multiscenarii recyclability assessment and a procedure that leads to design guidelines. The method is applied to an existing electronic product. This validation underlines the originality and the benefits of the method. It is also showed that the obtained guidelines are efficient and relevant. La valorisation des produits en fin de vie devient de plus en plus capitale pour les producteurs de produits complexes. Cependant, l’intégration des aspects relatifs à la valorisation dans le processus de conception des produits n’est aujourd’hui pas aisée et les méthodes et outils destinés à cet usage s’avèrent encore insatisfaisants. Une nouvelle méthode est ici présentée et mise en œuvre. Son utilisation permet aux concepteurs de produit d’appréhender et de maîtriser la complexité et la variabilité des filières de valorisation et de réaliser des choix de conception. La méthode comporte une modélisation originale des filières de valorisation, une évaluation multicritère et multiscénarii de la recyclabilité et une procédure menant à l’élaboration de règles de conception. La méthode est appliquée à un produit électronique. Cette mise en œuvre permet de souligner l’originalité et la richesse de la méthode. Son efficacité est mise en évidence grâce à l’élaboration de règles d’amélioration de conception efficientes et pertinentes.
