Abstract
L'A. examine les elements sociolinguistiques de certaines variables linguistiques de Cappahayden, une communaute rurale au sud de la peninsule d'Avalon de Terre-Neuve. Il se refere au cadre variationniste de Labov ou des methodes quantitatives sont utilisees pour definir les relations entre la variation linguistique et les facteurs sociaux tels que le sexe, l'âge et l'ethnie, dans une gamme de differents styles conversationnels. Il s'agit ici d'une etude familiale ou sept participants appartenant a une meme famille constituent l'echantillon representant la communaute de Cappahayden
