Abstract
Unionisation has declined substantially in several Anglo-Saxon countries, especially the U.S. and UK. In contrast, Canadian unionisation has been relatively stable. Nonetheless, during the 1980s and 1990s Canada experienced a gradual but steady decline in union density. The principal objective of this paper is to analyse the causes of the decline in union coverage observed in Canada during the past two decades. For comparative perspective we also examine changes in U.S. unionisation during the same period. These keywords were added by machine and not by the authors.
