Abstract
Depuis 1932, sept associations professionnelles ont été créées en sciences de l’information au Québec, six en bibliothéconomie et une en archivistique. Chacune a ses buts, ses objectifs, sa mission propre qui définissent son action. Ces associations sont de dimension modeste. Les plus importantes (l’Association pour l’avancement des sciences et des techniques de la documentation, la Corporation des bibliothécaires professionnels du Québec et l’Association des archivistes du Québec) rassemblent entre 500 et 750 membres et offrent les services d’un secrétariat permanent. Ces associations se sont dotées récemment d’un organisme de concertation, la Table des milieux documentaire et archivistique du Québec, pour mieux coordonner leur action et faire front commun auprès des gouvernements et des médias.
