Cet article expose les motivations des Americains catholiques d'origine allemande qui choisirent au debut du 20e siecle (1903-1926) d'emigrer vers St. Peter, dans le territoire qui deviendra la province canadienne du Saskatchewan. Ils y trouverent non seulement de bonnes terres et de bonnes conditions de vie, mais egalemnt la possibilite de s'etablir en une communaute satisfaisant leurs besoins spirituels : avec l'aide des Benedictins, ils purent fonder des ecoles et vivre selon leur foi.
