Abstract
Abstract This chapter discusses the myths and realities of “primary care reform.” The first section addresses the various conceptual versions of what counts as “primary.” The second section shows the variations and similarities in the discussion and practice among five countries (United States, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, United Kingdom). The third section summarizes the patterns of reform advocacy and system practice, and the relationship between those very different phenomena.
