S’il est une chose qu’ont en partage les diverses tendances de la philosophie européenne après Kant, c’est bien l’idée de la philosophie comme critique : tout à la fois comme critique de la raison, critique de la modernité et critique de la philosophie. L’histoire de la philosophie européenne post-kantienne ou, pour utiliser le terme devenu usuel, de la philosophie continentale, peut être comprise d’abord et avant tout comme l’histoire des différentes tentatives de mettre en œuvre cette idée. Malheureusement, cette conception de la philosophie a abouti à une impasse, à une crise qui est imputable à la tendance répandue à interpréter son sens de manière très étroite et, somme toute, autodestructrice. L’article représente une réponse à cette crise.
