Abstract
Le debat scientifique entourant le peuplement des Ameriques a ete largement centre sur les aspects economiques de la culture Clovis. Il y a eu peu de discussion sur les aspects sociaux ou ideologiques de la culture Clovis. Ceci est en partie lie a la difficulte d'obtenir ce type d'informations des donnees archeologiques. Pourtant, dans l'archeologie du paysage, une approche basee sur la phenomenologie peut fournir une comprehension des aspects non-economiques des cultures prehistoriques. A travers des donnees archeologiques, des analogies generales et des modeles theoriques developpes par des archeologues du paysage, le role ideologique d'un groupe de caches Clovis est examine. Il est propose que lorsque la colonisation du territoire progressait, certaines caches avaient pour but de transformer un sens mobile du paysage en un sens fixe du paysage. Cette transformation symbolique faisait partie d'un processus complexe menant a une connaissance du paysage qui aurait requis une adaptation economique, comportementale et ideologique.
