Abstract
Pas pire is shaped by the openness and transcending of boundaries that are characteristic of self-fiction. This article examines the territory of dreams in which human beings explore their fears, desires and abilities. In the novel, this knowledge of the I goes beyond the intimate and personal to the social and collective, just as the novel intertwines personal history and Acadian history. An attitude of suspicion with regard to the outside world, which for a long time undermined the Acadian reconquest of the self yields to an openness symbolized by travel. This openness embodies a transgression of the boundaries between here and there, self and other.
