Abstract
Conakry, capitale guinéenne est le lieu privilégié d’observation des interactions entre la musique et la grande ville africaine. L’expérience du socialisme révolutionnaire montre qu’une instrumentalisation politique de la culture participe à la création et à la consolidation du territoire national, au renforcement du maillage territorial et des hiérarchies spatiales. Aujourd’hui encore, la musique contribue à la structuration des espaces et à leur différenciation. Par ses formes nouvelles et urbaines, elle est un facteur d’appropriation de la ville par les citadins. En retour, la ville agit sur les formes musicales existantes et sur les acteurs. De nouvelles réalités et de nouveaux enjeux changent profondément les répertoires et les stratégies, collectives et individuelles. Enfin, en tant que média, la musique exprime espoirs et incertitudes face au défi de la conservation de la paix et de la stabilité dans une région en pleine mutation.
