La paleoethnobotanique dans la region de la cote due Nord-Ouest tente a present d'elaborer les principes methodologiques et d'etablir la portee et la complexite de la problematique relative aux donnees. Cet article presente une analyse preliminaire des vestiges archeobotaniques provenant de depotoirs de trois villages haidas et aborde les problemes taphonomiques auxquels sont confrontes les paleoethnobotanistes dans le cadre de leur analyse et interpretation. Nous etudions la provenance des divers types de vestiges recuperes dans les depotoirs afin de differencier ceux qui sont deposes de facon naturelle de ceux qui resultent d'activites culturelles. L'origine des differentes composantes des assemblages archeologiques est la premiere etape dans l'interpretation et nous permet d'aborder des questions d'une plus grande envergure sur le plan social et economique.
