Abstract
La « révolution numérique » appréhendée à partir de la pensée de Jacques Ellul est une révolution technicienne aux effets contrastés qui a ouvert de nouveaux espaces de liberté au prix d’un contrôle accru sur l’individu. Elle ne saurait constituer le soubassement d’une révolution politique libératrice comme elle est considérée dans les théories des multitudes, du capitalisme cognitif ou de l’ère post-médiatique. Pour réaliser la véritable révolution dont le 21e siècle a besoin, on doit fixer des buts et des limites aux techniques numériques en privilégiant celles qui favorisent l’autonomie et la maîtrise humaines.
