Abstract
The advantages of recording IF (intermediate frequency) data when observing GNSS signals are discussed. This fundamental data can be reprocessed indefinitely with any acquisition and tracking loop algorithm to assist in the design and use of enhanced loops for the applications needed. If a sufficient number of bits and signal bandwidth are recorded, no fundamental information is lost and the data can be used in postmission for advanced earth observations and GNSS infrastructure protection used methods yet to be discovered. The data storage requirement is described and two examples are employed to demonstrate its use.
