Abstract
One of the specifics of the Quebec novel - be it the works of Michel Tremblay, Yves Beauchemin, Noël Audet, Jacques Ferron and others - is the ease with which it incorporates the marvelous. The interference between the novelistic genre and the (folk) tale containing marvelous elements raises not only the thematic problem of the coexistence and the synergy of two worlds - the realistic and the marvelous one - but also the question of shaping the narrative structure. From this point of view, this article examines the specific case of Jacques Ferron's novel La Charrette (1968). The aim is to highlight narrative devices allowing the marvelous to penetrate into the novel as well as their structural and semantic effects on narrative categories and the represented world as a whole.
