Abstract
七、Archie Archie原先是作为加拿大蒙特利尔的McGill大学计算机学院的学生和教师自愿者开发的项目。Archie,从某种意义上讲,是一个图书管理员,他定期自动地去访问众多的Internet FTP服务器,将这些服务器上的文件索引成一个可供检索的数据库Internet Archives Database(Internet档案数据库);此外还存在Software De-scription Database(软件描述库),在这个库中包含有可以在匿名FTP档案库中找到的数以千计的程序,文件和数据文件的简短描述。
