Abstract
This chapter explores some tensions underlying and restricting social movement learning and knowledge production within trade union and worker contexts in the United States and Canada. First, we ask how trade unions reflect and participate in the education models of their oppressors. Second, we explore some of the methods and practices that have evolved, been borrowed, or developed that aim to reach beyond repressive learning treadmills and models, and the ineffective learning experiences that almost every worker will tell you about if asked.
