This article proposes a control strategy for power system stabilization, in which the power swing equation is linearized by a power modulation control using a solid-state phase shifter. The application of the proposed control, is expected to yield that the power system is always characterized by a prespecified linear system independent of the variation of system operating condition. The proposed control is robust in the sense that the readjustment of control parameters is not necessary even when the operating condition is changed a great deal. Some simulation results demonstrate the significant effectiveness of the controller for the stabilization of a long-distance power transmission system.
