Il y a des millions de personnes qui travaillent tous le jours et qui restent pauvres. La plupart de ces personnes sont des femmes. Quand on parle de travail non reconnu des femmes, on ne parle pas seulement du travail invisible. Meme lorsqu'elles occupent un emploi, les femmes sont en general moins bien payees et moins valorisees que les hommes. Ce livre presente l'histoire des femmes dans le contexte du monde du travail au Quebec et aussi, quelques portraits des femmes quebecoises qui ont joue un role important dans l'histoire du monde du travail.
