Abstract
Le rapport entre l’insécurité et l’autochtone est esquissé dans cet article par le biais d’une interrogation sur la construction de l’objet de peur. L’auteure renonce à approcher cette construction par le seul détour d’une peur du crime et suggère que l’autochtone a d’abord fait l’objet d’une multiplicité de constructions sociales avant d’émerger de façon souterraine puis collective en objet de peur. Cet essai d’articulation débouche sur l’idée que la construction sociale de l’autochtone en objet de peur est récente et qu’elle doit être appréhendée comme le signe d’un rétrécissement des rapports entre l’État et les Premières Nations, resserrement qui fait naître de nouveaux rapports conflictuels entre une marge devenue ou perçue comme une menace et les fondements de l’ordre économique, politique et social que l’État s’évertue à perpétuer.
