Abstract
La contrepartie de la popularité grandissante du concept d’espace public renvoie non seulement à la pluralité de ses formes, mais aussi à sa difficile conceptualisation et opérationnalisation. Le présent article s’attache au fondement multidisciplinaire de l’espace public et jette des balises de réflexion sur sa double dimension politique et médiatique. L’auteure suggère de mettre en relation la représentation de l’univers des rapports sociaux avec celle que sous-tend la régulation politique propre à chaque forme de l’État moderne et d’appréhender sous cet angle les transformations historiques de l’espace public médiatique. L’article aborde également la médiatisation comme forme de médiation tendant à polariser la diversité des médiations et examine les sens que revêtent les termes espace et public.
