Abstract

Dissemination and implementation (D&I) research in community and public health (C&PH) settings holds great promise for widespread improvements in population health by closing the gap between scientific evidence and public health action. This chapter focuses on government public health systems in the United States and Canada, highlighting characteristics relevant for D&I research. It discusses the evidence base, theories, and other important themes guiding current D&I research in C&PH settings, and provides some case examples that highlight gaps and opportunities for future work in this area.
