Les PME face à l’achat d’offres low-cost : une approche exploratoire par la valeur perçue

Alors que le low-cost constitue un segment de marché bien établi en grande consommation, son développement reste plus restreint au sein des échanges interorganisationnels. Toutefois, son évolution ces dernières années témoigne d’un intérêt croissant des offreurs et de la clientèle d’affaires pour ce type d’offres simplifiées à prix bas. En particulier, l’observation des stratégies des entreprises low-cost et l’analyse de la demande conduisent à l’identification d’une cible prioritairement concernée par ces offres : les PME. Dans ce contexte, cet article vise à mieux cerner l’attractivité des produits et services low-cost du point de vue des clients PME. Pour cela, l’approche de la valeur perçue est mobilisée. À l’issue d’une étude qualitative exploratoire menée auprès de vingt-huit PME, il est constaté qu’au-delà de la dégradation de la qualité perçue, d’autres sources de destruction de valeur peuvent exister (valeurs émotionnelle, éthique et relationnelle). Par ailleurs, les sources de création de valeur ne se limitent pas au seul gain monétaire perçu, mais peuvent aussi concerner les aspects sociaux et non monétaires perçus de l’offre. La variabilité constatée des effets du low-cost sur la valeur perçue peut s’expliquer par la diversité des parties prenantes concernées par les conséquences de l’achat de l’offre, par les caractéristiques liées au produit ou service low-cost et par celles relatives au contexte d’achat et de consommation.
