RÉSUMÉ Ce livre apporte une contribution utile à la littérature dans le domaine des nouvelles technologies de la communication et de l'information. Il se concentre principalement sur les services de systèmes d'alerte personnels utilisés en Angleterre et en Irlande. L'ouvrage présente également un survol international des technologies connexes (moniteurs à distance, télémédecine, télésanté). Les systèmes d'alerte visent à soutenir l'autonomie des usagers et leur intégration sociale, mais comportent des implications importantes. Ce livre contribue à mieux cerner les enjeux auxquels les politiques de logement et de services sociaux devront s'attarder.
