Abstract
Fugazi, l’un des groupes les plus reconnus de la scène indépendante américaine, a récemment mis en ligne la quasi-totalité de ses prestations « live », soit plus de 800 enregistrements réalisés entre 1987 et 2003. Un tel projet se distingue à la fois par son ampleur, les formations rock se contentant généralement de produire un ou deux disques en concert au cours de leur carrière, et par sa perspective, le label alternatif Dischord se lançant ainsi dans des activités curatoriales habituellement prises en charge par les institutions officielles de la culture comme les musées, les bibliothèques ou les universités. On réfléchira ici à cette démarche à la fois du point de vue du document, les variations infinies des concerts s’opposant aux versions arrêtées des albums studio, et de celui du canon, Fugazi souhaitant manifestement, par la constitution de cette archive numérique, contribuer à une histoire parallèle du rock.
