Abstract
Abstract This chapter discusses that no explicit Canadian policy addresses either the physical security or supply adequacy and reliability aspects of energy security. It notes that the primary objective of the Canadian Energy Security is to secure a US market for reliable Canadian energy exports, and for this purpose, cooperates with the US in its energy security initiatives. It adds that new legislation concerning physical security of energy facilities and activities is limited to Alberta, the major oil- and gas-producing province. It explains that Federal legislation in relation to security of pipelines and international power lines within federal constitutional jurisdiction went before Parliament in 2003.
