Abstract Cet article synthétise l'état actuel des connaissances sur l'application de la technologie du biofilm pour l'enlèvement biologique du phosphore (EBP). Il présente d'abord les principaux mécanismes de l'EBP, ensuite les caractéristiques du procédé à biofilm, et poursuit avec celles qui sont favorables pour la réalisation de la biodéphosphatation. Les différentes configurations du processus de biodéphosphatation par biofilm étudiées à ce jour sont présentées, ainsi qu'une révision des facteurs particuliers qui influencent l'EBP dans un biofilm. Une attention particulière est apportée aux processus opérant en continu.
