Abstract
Cet article prend comme objet d’étude Nature Morte, un roman de A. S. Byatt qui aborde le conflit classique que dénoncent les féministes entre création et procréation en soulignant la létalité déconcertante contenue dans la maternité. En effet, la créativité dépend, d’après la romancière et essayiste d’origine canadienne Nancy Huston, de la capacité à affronter la mort, car cette dernière permet à l’auteur de faire sien le mode transgressif nécessaire à l’écriture romanesque. En outre, un parallèle est fait entre cette transgression de l’éthique maternelle présente au niveau diégétique et l’écriture de Byatt qui s’appuie sur un mélange de genres et un style antithétique.
