Abstract
The OAR with the BR have been proven an effective clinical tool in predicting fractures of the ankle and midfoot. Implementing and following the rules properly can result in reducing the number of unnecessary radiographs. If serious injury is suspected it is important that clinicians refer for advanced care. It is imperative, however, that they act accordingly within the scope of their practice. The OAR/BR is a valuable tool for all clinicians to learn and use, but basic knowledge and clinical common sense should not be forgotten. It is important to remember that the tool is only as efficient as the person using it. © 2005 Human Kinetics.
