L’article traite du deuil alourdi par le contexte d’opprobre social. Il aborde la question à partir des deuils surexposés et des deuils cachés ou clandestins. Dans le premier cas, la mort est exposée aux regards de tous, le plus souvent en raison de son caractère violent comme dans les cas de meurtres et encore plus lorsqu’il s’agit de parricides. Le second cas est, au contraire, celui où la mort engendre un deuil caché aux regards, comme le deuil d’un amant ou d’une maîtresse, le deuil d’un conjoint homosexuel, le deuil d’un enfant non déclaré. Finalement, le texte propose que la relation d’aide tienne compte des éléments qui modifient la souffrance, du contexte social en présence, des modalités d’expression du deuil et des adjuvants au travail de deuil.
