Abstract
La loi canadienne sur le droit d’auteur n’est plus adaptée à la réalité des communications modernes. Un projet de révision sera déposé prochainement. L’auteur rappelle le concept juridique de propriété intellectuelle et décrit les principaux éléments de la loi et dresse un aperçu historique des étapes de sa révision. Il commente brièvement ces études préparatoires qui vont du rapport de la Commission llsley en 1954 à la réponse du gouvernement au rapport du sous-comité sur le droit d’auteur en 1986. Il rappelle enfin que pour le bibliothécaire, la discussion se situe en termes de responsabilité professionnelle en tant qu’intermédiaire entre les créateurs et les utilisateurs de l’oeuvre protégée par la loi.
