A partir de la triple dimensionalidad de los lenguajes (diacronía, diatopía y diastratía) intento abordar en este ensayo la intervención de la literatura en lo social, especialmente en épocas de crisis, dada su intervención en los discursos y en los imaginarios colectivos. Ilustran mi propuesta general un análisis de El Burlador de Sevilla de Tirso de Molina como ejemplo de un texto, eco sin más de la crisis de su tiempo y su España, y un análisis del Quijote que muestra la toma de conciencia de la crisis por parte de Cervantes y su intervención en la misma a través de la distanciación irónica.
