Abstract
Cet article prend pour objet d’étude les autoreprésentations des jeunes Montréalaises d’origine haïtienne (15-24 ans) nées au Québec et vise à documenter, puis analyser leurs propres perceptions et les modes d’énonciation (vidéos, dessins, photographies, etc.) qu’elles emploient pour se représenter. En nous intéressant à leur autoreprésentation, nous explorerons le rôle et les impacts de ces images dans le contexte des dynamiques d’inclusion et d’exclusion sociale et culturelle qui marquent la société cosmopolite montréalaise : ces « techniques de soi » (Foucault 1985) constituent-elles des alternatives à « une violence envers le sujet de la représentation » (Saïd 2014 : 13) ? Leurs productions médiatiques les enferment-elles (production et alimentation d’une stéréotypie déjà existante) ou bien les désenclavent-elles (« les libèrent en les exposant à comparaître, les gratifiant ainsi d’une puissance propre d’apparition », Didi-Huberman 2012 : 144) ? Quelle est la variété de ces expressions de soi ? Comment s’élaborent des identités virtuelles ? Ces identités virtuelles contribuent-elles à des schémas d’action ?
