Crise française de la pensée allemande ? En réalité, l’avènement de la République en Allemagne, à la suite de la défaite de 1918 commande, pour ses fondateurs, un renouveau de l’idée de démocratie, qui puisse répondre à la fois à la tradition libérale du parlementarisme occidental et au défi bolchevique venu de l’Est. Pièce centrale de ce projet, la Constitution de Weimar, avec ses nouveaux principes et ses nouvelles institutions, frappera les meilleurs esprits juridiques de ce côté du Rhin, qui chercheront dès lors à saisir les évolutions sociales et politiques européennes dans les reflets de ce miroir. Ce livre réunit les travaux des juristes et politologues venus de France, Belgique et Canada, qui explorent la signification de ce projet constitutionnel complexe, non seulement à la lumière de l’histoire, mais également de certaines problématiques actuelles. Car la Constitution de Weimar reste notre contemporaine. Avec les contributions de Renaud Baumert, Carlos Miguel Herrera, Pierre-Henri Prélot, Bruno Silhol, Augustin Simard et Tristan Storme. Ancien membre de l’Institut universitaire de France, Carlos Miguel Herrera est professeur de droit public à l’Université de Cergy-Pontoise, où il dirige le Centre philosophie juridique et politique.
