Longitudinal end-effect (LEE) is an important phenomenon which affects the Linear Induction Motor, adversely. This phenomenon leads to some problems such as considerable changes in equivalent circuit (EC) parameters by varying speed, non-uniform field distribution along the air-gap and so, weaker output performance comparing to rotary induction motors (RIMs). This paper proposes to include LEE of Single-Sided Linear Induction Motor (SLIM) in traction and normal forces calculation completely, using the Poynting theorem. By help of the method it will be possible to include the effect of LEE even at entry and exit area of the motor. The analysis will be carried out by help of one-dimensional field analysis (1-D) method. Simulation results based on the proposed method will be evaluated by experimental measurements from Canadian Institute of Guided Ground Transportation (CIGGT).
