Durant les campanyes d'excavacio arqueologica dutes a terme a la placa de la Vila de Madrid els anys 2001 i 2002, es va poder localitzar una petita estructura d'enterrament que pertany cronoculturalment al neolitic antic. L'estructura es localitzava entre la zona funeraria romana i estava excavada al subsol geologic. Aquesta estructura tenia un caracter exclusivament funerari i havia estat construida amb aquesta finalitat. La cronologia obtinguda per mitja del C14 accelerat ha donat com a resultat una data molt antiga: mitjan VIe mil·lenni, amb datacions cal·librades. L'enterrament de la placa de la Vila de Madrid es la manifestacio funeraria a l'aire lliure mes antiga documentada fins al moment a Catalunya.
