Abstract
Le musée Bourdelle, pensé par l’artiste dès 1922, n’a ouvert que vingt ans après sa mort, en 1949. Il a d’abord occupé les anciens ateliers datant du XIXe siècle avant de s’enrichir de nouvelles salles : hall monumental en 1961 et extension de Portzamparc en 1992. Cet article est l’occasion de revenir sur les étapes de création du musée, et notamment sur les sources d’inspiration qui se donnent à lire dans son architecture. Surtout, il interroge la manière dont sont exposées et valorisées les œuvres de Bourdelle, une majorité de bronzes et de plâtres, et leur interaction avec ces espaces d’identités et d’époques disparates.
