Abstract
Depuis une vingtaine d’années, les mobilités spatiales se sont imposées comme une dimension centrale des sociétés contemporaines. La sociologie a longtemps laissé de côté les mobilités spatiales en général et les mobilités quotidiennes en particulier. Cette contribution montrera comment cet objet, les mobilités spatiales, ont été traitées dans l’histoire de la sociologie, passant de l’oubli à une prédominance excessive. Puis, au travers de l’analyse de travaux récents menés par des sociologues francophones, nous montrerons dans un second temps que les mobilités quotidiennes constituent un analyseur puissant de la société et amènent à renouveler les questionnements de trois champs classiques de la sociologie que sont le travail, la socialisation et la stratification sociale.
