In-Situ Exsolved Alloy Nanoparticles on Perovskite for the Cogeneration of Ethylene and Electricity in Proton Conducting Fuel Cell

Abstract
An anode material comprised of double layered perovskite (Pr0.4Sr0.6)3(Fe0.85Mo0.15)2O7 with uniformly dispersed Co-Fe alloy nanoparticles was prepared. The proton conducting fuel cell fabricated with this catalyst achieved a power density of 349 mW cm−2 in C2H6 at 750 °C. Meanwhile, The cell achieved a ethylene yield of 42% with a remarkable ethylene selectivity over 91% at 750 °C. The high dehydrogenation activity for ethane to ethylene together with the good electrochemical performance makes this newly developed material a promising anode for the cogeneration of ethylene and electrical power.
