2D seismic models and quantitative investigation of an undrilled Eocene fan complex
Bibliographic record
Abstract
In basins with sparse well control quantitative prospect analysis can be a quite challenging. Such is the case within the slope/rise region of the NW Orphan Basin. Anomalous AVO responses within a thick Tertiary section highlight large scale Eocene fan complexes in the Orphan Basin which has driven the need for an in depth seismic analysis of these features. Contrary to historical exploration experience in the Jeanne d’Arc Basin where AVO has historically been of limited value recent work in the Flemish Pass, Orphan Basin and off the coast of Labrador show that sands do appear to have meaningful AVO character. This is a finding that is encouraging for the de-risking of leads and prospects via seismic analysis. Building on empirically established regional rock physics trends and relationships from a Regional Rock Physics Study (Selnes, Huntbatch, Whitfield, Ogieva, 2015), a locally constrained 2D modelling workflow within the thick Tertiary section was implemented to quantitatively investigate a large Eocene fan complex and its associated seismic character. The objective of the investigation is to aid in prospect de-risking via rock property estimation and reservoir characterization. Full frame machine prediction
Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
machine, unvalidatedMachine predicted; a candidate call from one source (direct Gemma or distilled Codex), not a consensus.
