Abstract

北海道,石狩低地帯南部の最終間氷期以降のテフラ-土壌累積層について,特にササ類の地史的動態に注目して,植物珪酸体分析を実施した.現植物相で優勢な植物群であるササ類は,海洋酸素同位体ステージ(MIS)5eから5b前半まで,植生の主要な構成要素であった.しかし,ササ類は,MIS5b後半に帰属する阿蘇4テフラ(Aso-4)期からMIS5b/5a境界に帰属するクッタラ6テフラ(Kt-6)期にかけて衰退し,その後,最終氷期を通じてほとんど消滅した.その間,少なくともMIS5bとMIS3に亜寒帯針葉樹林の成立が見られた.MIS5bに成立した亜寒帯針葉樹林は,現在の北海道に見られる亜寒帯針葉樹林と同様にササ類を伴ったが,MIS3に成立した亜寒帯針葉樹林はササ類を伴うことはなかった.ササ類が再び主要な構成要素となる時期は完新世の開始以降である.
