Abstract
Neste artigo apresenta-se uma reflexão sobre o planejamento enquanto uma atribuição e competência do assistente social buscando evidenciar as tensões e os desafios na operacionalização do mesmo. Um dos pontos principais que se enfatiza é que ao reconhecer o planejamento enquanto um ato técnico, mas também político, reforça-se a necessidade e pertinência da operacionalização deste em consonância com o que o projeto ético-político da profissão propõe a fim de superar formas centralizadoras, burocráticas e funcionais à ordem hegemônica e colocar-se no âmbito do tensionamento e alargamento da esfera política de atuação do Serviço Social.
