Abstract
Contraception consists of methods or devices used to prevent pregnancy. Forms of contraception are known as contraceptives. Access to contraception is key to women's health and equality. Despite increasing availability of contraceptives, access is still limited for many women and there are substantial global inequalities in access to contraception. Contraception has historically been linked to racism and eugenics, and coercion and forced sterilization have been serious issues in reproductive justice.
