Abstract
The anti‐globalization movement is associated with the 1999 Seattle protests against the World Trade Organization but more accurately describes the convergence of many social forces worldwide opposed to neoliberal economic and political restructuring – a particular project of “globalization‐from‐above.” Composed of myriad local‐ and national‐scale resistances and emerging transnational networks and campaigns, the anti‐globalization movement is increasingly densely connected through the Internet, the World Social Forum process, and periodic manifestations protesting summits of global governance and has given rise to a diverse literature across the social sciences.
